About Well Street Studios

Well Street Studios offers art classes with artist and educator Amanda Dow Thompson. Based in the centre of Bury St Edmunds, the emphasis is on project-based learning, where students are invited to explore their own concepts and ideas. Sculpture, printmaking, painting and traditional drawing skills are taught during group or individual classes. Students of all ages and stages are welcomed, as long as they have a passion for art!

Amanda has over thirty years experience in the classroom and art studio. Originally from London, she spent the last fifteen years in New York City, making and exhibiting her own work while simultaneously teaching at Dwight School, NYC. During her twelve year tenure at the school she taught students from the ages of six to eighteen, including those with learning differences. She ultimately took on the role of head of visual arts, overseeing the arts programme school-wide. Amanda has an up-to-date DBS.
